V Well Health’s “Super Nuts” Recipe

What do you get when you combine nuts, seeds and incredible spices…?  “Super Nuts”.  As I promised all of our friends at Hackensack University Medical Center, below is V Well Health’s “Super Nuts” recipe.

V Well Health’s “Super Nuts”

(Folks, please ensure that the raw, unsalted nuts you purchase are poison free, i.e. the package must say “Nuts only, no BHT and no other nasty chemicals.)


  • Raw walnuts
  • Raw almonds
  • Raw sunflower seeds
  • Chia or flax seeds
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Smoked paprika
  • Oregano
  • Cinnamon
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • Dash of cloves
  • Honey
  • Raw coconut oil
  • Raisins
  • Dark chocolate


  1. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large, shallow bowl combine all nuts and seeds.
  3. Add spices.  There is a reason why I did not suggest measurements for the spices.  You may like them spicy, therefore you might want to add more cayenne pepper, or you might like to add tons of cinnamon.  I will tell you however, use a teaspoon to measure and do not overdo it on the spices the first time you make this recipe.  I would suggest equal parts cayenne pepper and cinnamon and then a half teaspoon of oregano and paprika.  Again, this is where you get to play chef and choose how sweet and spicy to make the nuts.
  4. Add honey, just enough to make it sticky, stir well.
  5. Add coconut oil (another great way to ingest miracle coconut oil).  The coconut oil is used as a binder, therefore honey and coconut oil is added just enough to make nuts moist.
  6. Place in shallow baking pan and place in the middle rack of the oven.  Bake between 35 and 45 minutes until browned and roasted.  Be careful not to burn.
  7. Remove from oven, do not let cool.  While they are still hot, place the nuts in a large bowl using a spatula to scrape.
  8. While hot, add raisins and dark chocolate.  Combine with a wooden spoon so that the chocolate coats the nuts.  Let cool in bowl over night.

We created this recipe so that we could have a sweet, healthy treat.  As most of you know I do have a petty darn good sweet tooth.  The great thing about this recipe is that there is nothing bad in it.  It is a healthy treat of course but eat this treat in moderation.  I like to store these nuts in Zip-Loc bags in the refrigerator.  As I stated above, make this recipe a couple of times and play around with the spices.  The cayenne pepper is so good for you, if you like spicy nuts crank up the pepper next time.  I hope you enjoy these nuts as much as we do, bon apetit.
