Take a Dip in Chocolate

8 Feb

Chocolate is an extraordinary and glorious treat.  Simply, it is healthy but it also makes you happy.  As you can imagine I am not overjoyed with many desserts.  White flour doesn’t make me jump up and down with joy but dark chocolate definitely makes me swoon.  With Valentine’s Day coming up, for all you guys and gals looking for something extraordinary to make your honey, I wanted to provide you with an easy, natural and delectable treat.

Dark Chocolate Fondue with Fruit

 Ingredients:

  • 6 1 oz squares of unsweetened dark chocolate
  • 1 1/2 cups of raw sugar
  • 1 cup of light cream
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt
  • 3 tablespoons of Grand Marnier (orange flavored liqueur)

Recipe:

  1. In a saucepan melt the chocolate over low heat.  Add sugar, cream, butter and salt.  Cook stirring constantly for about five minutes or until thick.
  2. Stir in the liqueur.  Pour into a fondue pot, place over fondue burner.
  3. Serve with strawberries, kiwis, bananas, pineapple or whatever you prefer.  Spear fruit with fork and dip in sauce, enjoy!

Try this recipe.  I know you and your honey will enjoy it.  Yes, I know it has butter, cream and sugar; I didn’t say it was perfect, but I did say it is all natural.  Plus, I’m not as scared of butter and cream as some people think I should be and neither should you.  Once in a while this all natural treat is OK to enjoy, especially comparatively speaking.  Keep the excess in the refrigerator, it makes a great, all natural, chocolate syrup.  Don’t have a fondue pot?  Buy yourself a Valentine’s gift, they’re great fun and good conversation pieces at dinner.
